This past weekend was one for the books in Charlotte, NC (aka The Queen City, The Hornet's Nest, or 'Mini-NYC' as I like to call it). Charlotte is a metropolitan city in the south that according to Carolina History has become the second largest financial center in the Nation. Adding that to the recent success of the Carolina Panthers results in a serious buzz (yes, pun intended) in the city.
What I got my high off though wasn't seeing the Panthers stadium in the midst of the hype, or overeating at several locations in Uptown Charlotte - but visiting a few menswear stores that I had on my radar for a few months. The first, and most welcoming stop was at Tabor, a modern menswear store that provides luxury designer collections from houses such as Thom Browne, Ralph Lauren, Engineered Garments and Dries Van Noten to name a few.
Quality footwear, traditional staples and outlandish pieces from some of the most creative in fashion is found at a price range between $250 and $2500.
I was struck by the spacious, classy space that made me feel like I was walking through the home of the editor-in-chief of your favorite fashion magazine. Not to mention that the merchandise is GQ approved and can be complimented with in-house alterations, a personal shopping experience and they'll even curate your whole wardrobe.
Next time you're in the Queen City be sure to stop by Tabor. It'll always be the first task on my to-do list during my next trip to the "704".
