The big day's finally here! No, not the wedding day...and no, not game day. Its the day you take your outfit seriously and we're here to help you not look or feel too stuffy when meeting her parents. There are few things that can go wrong and the last thing that should go wrong is what you decide to wear.
Wearing a shirt with some sort of collar is a no-brainer, but as we're in early fall and temperatures aren't too brutal, here's your pass to be a little summer-nostalgic and use a polo as a layering piece. Over that, go with a dark, lightweight bomber which is perfect for any occasion that requires a suit. If the occasion calls for dancing or sitting beside a warm fire place (a few extremes, but you get the idea) then wear a casual button-down oxford to stay a little formal if the heat turns up.
Do your homework; what are their occupations? If her parents are heavily involved in education, maybe this is your chance to go Oxford-prep and wear wool socks with penny loafers. Are they business people? Put your best shined-foot forward and wear the most business appropriate monk straps you own. Just don't scuff the wooden floors — that's what you don't call a good first impression.
