Baseball's Influence on Menswear

America's Past Time

America's favorite past time is not only the reason for most of our best childhood memories, its also influenced the one thing that affects your self-confidence and how the world perceives you - the way you dress.

My first memory of baseball was when I was in high school and a minor league team, the Winston Salem Dash, moved into town and impacted the culture of our city in a positive way. Those same memories of fresh cut grass and the amazing atmosphere of a brand new baseball stadium comes to mind when I'm inspired to wear a baseball shirt.

Design

There's no such thing as perfect, but the baseball shirt is made perfectly for warm weather. This style shirt was made to keep players comfortable in hot temperatures, while protecting your elbows from turf burn and other hazards. Its easy to see how the baseball shirt is a better fit for warm weather than short sleeve tees and long sleeve shirts.

The three-fourth length strengths are almost always contrasting to the core of the shirt (i.e in this shirt, the sleeves are black while the core of the shirt is white). This is where those trap exercises pay off as the  fit should be snug in your shoulders.

How to Wear It

The weather was pretty modest on the day these shots were taken, which is why I accessorized with a hoodie tied around my waist along with a baseball cap (pun intended) and combat-inspired boots. By changing the footwear choice as the weather changes, you can easily add a modern twist to your look on the way to your favorite team's game this summer.

The best way to wear a baseball shirt this summer is with a pair of joggers on the cooler days, a pair of sweat shorts on the errand days, and a pair of chino shorts at cookouts and outdoor outings.
