I'll be honest, picking out an outfit with an example of what to wear on a date night is just as nerve-racking as getting dressed for a real date night. After about four outfit changes, I've partnered with Banana Republic to put together the perfect semi-formal date night look.
It is July, but don't be distraught by the sweater. There very well may be cooler days in summer, and if you're up north you're more likely to be having some right now.
Let's start from the inside out. The vibrant orange and cobalt blue print in the plaid shirt add a bit of personality to what's otherwise known as a trendy but conservative look. Lavender is a color most appropriate for spring and summer months, but it can effortlessly transition into the early fall months while temps are still modest.
After trying on this sweater, I was amazed by 1) The amazingly soft feel that adds comfort, 2) how it fit to the contour of my body, adding style points to go with comfort. This sweater will be used as a staple weekly in my business casual and semi-formal wardrobe.
Layering season is approaching in early fall - that's why Banana Republic make high quality dress shirts like these. I'd feel just as comfortable wearing it with a suit to a meeting as I would with it tucked in and the sleeves rolled up on a date night
Although today's man dresses down, he also dresses smart. This has led to slim-fit suit pants being incorporated into business casual, and even casual looks. Another example is how this knit tie, although black, adds a casual element because of the stitching.
This look does three things: It makes you look like a weekend dressed down CEO, shows versatility, and it shows that you're a man who knows how to tie his own tie. You're officially the renaissance man.
